Reporting issues about providers and workers

You can report an issue when:

bullet  you feel unsafe reporting an issue to your provider

You can report an issue when someone:

bullet  asks you to pay too much

bullet  hurts or treats you badly

bullet  doesn’t stop a person from hurting or treating you badly

bullet  doesn’t help you when you’re hurt or being treated badly. end of list

You can report an issue when someone:

bullet  stops you from making a decision or saying what you want

bullet  talks about something that should be private

bullet  doesn’t know how to support you or isn’t careful. end of list

You can report an issue when someone:

bullet  doesn’t handle a complaint well or quickly

bullet  hides or lies about what they’re doing. end of list

When should you report an issue?

It’s always okay to speak up.

You can talk to us or your provider if you have:

  • an issue with your supports or services
  • a complaint about your supports or services.

You can talk to us if you:

bullet  don’t want to speak to your provider

bullet  aren’t happy with what your provider has done to fix the issue. end of list

You don’t have to tell us your name when you report an issue.

What can’t we help you with?

We can’t help you with issues about:

  • joining the NDIS
  • the money you get from the NDIS
  • how you manage your NDIS plan.

Your NDIS plan has information about:

  • you and your goals
  • what supports you need
  • what the NDIS will pay for.

You can ask the National Disability Insurance Agency about these things.

Who can report an issue?

Anyone can report an issue to us.

This includes:

bullet  people with disability

bullet  family and friends

bullet  carers. end of list

Workers can report an issue.

Advocates can report an issue.

An advocate is someone who can:

  • support you
  • help you have your say
  • give you information and advice.

Guardians can also report an issue.

A guardian is a person who acts and makes decisions for you.

Your guardian might be:

  • a member of your family
  • a friend
  • chosen for you by the government.
